Mattia Sedda is a clown, actor, and theatre director from Sardinia, Italy.
Mattia’s introduction to theatre came during his studies in Florence, where he had relocated at eighteen to read Political Science. It was there that he first encountered performance, working alongside practitioners of the calibre of Thomas Richards, Duccio Bellugi Vannuccini, Charlotte Munksø, and Franco Farina — an early grounding that would prove formative to his subsequent development as a performer.

He continued his training in London, studying at the National Youth Theatre, the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and Fontainebleau Acting School, before being accepted into East 15 Acting School, where he received his formal training. He has since appeared in the British sitcom Hapless (Amazon Prime, Season 2), with a further feature film credit forthcoming.
In recent years, Mattia has focused his practice on clowning and physical comedy, training with Philippe Gaulier, Spymonkey, Viggo Venn, Dec Munro, Eric Davis, and Mick Barnfather. Alongside his clown practice, he has performed stand-up comedy at venues across London and, in 2023, joined the improv group Night of Drama during their Edinburgh Fringe run.
In 2024, he created his debut solo clown show, CHOIN, directed by Aitor Basauri, co-founder and performer of Spymonkey. The show has since toured extensively, playing the Vaults Festival, Brighton Fringe, Labyrinth Festival, Barcelona Fringe, Edinburgh Fringe (2024 and 2025), the Museum of Comedy (sold out), and Grandi Autori in Cagliari (sold out), with further dates in Milan and London. Chortle named it one of the “10 Clowns to See at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe.”
Londra Notizie
“Mattia Sedda the buffoon makes us laugh from start to finish, but Mattia Sedda the man opens small cracks here and there in which he takes on the responsibility of making us also think that being migrants, “fitting” into a rotten society, no longer even recognize ourselves in our gestures it is not so “normal”.”
Aitor Basauri, founder of Spymonkey
“The best theatre is brave, courageous and unpredictable and those are the undisputed qualities of Mattia as a performer so his theatre is exactly like him. To be part of something as exciting as that.. more than a job is a present from the Gods of Theatre.”
